Do you teach beginners?

Yes, we do! We teach both group and private lessons for beginners. We also offer workshops year-round for beginners in flamenco dance, singing and guitar.

What do I need to bring to dance class?

Women and girls: you will need flamenco or folklorico dance shoes. These are hard-heeled shoes with a strap, and have tiny nails embedded in the toes and heels. You'll also need a flamenco skirt, which is waisted, and full length.

Men and boys: you will need flamenco or folklorico boots. These are hard-heeled boots, and have tiny nails embedded in the toes and heels.

What do I need to bring to guitar class?

A nylon-string guitar and a capo. You may bring an audio recorder if you wish. Depending on your level, I may suggest that you pick up an instruction book such as Juan Martin's El Arte Flamenco de a Guitarra.

Do you teach children?

We are forming a children's dance class for 2009. If you are interested in having your child join a flamenco class, please contact us. The age range will be from 6-10 yrs., and from 11-16 yrs. - two separate dance classes. As soon as we have enough students, we will start the classes.

Are you Spanish?

No. We are Americans who have studied extensively in Spain.

Where can I buy a flamenco guitar?

If you're just starting out, there's no need to spend a lot on a flamenco guitar. Any nylon string guitar will get you started. For under $500, I recommend Yamaha guitars. Also, try McCabe's Guitar Store, 3101 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica, CA 90405. 310-828-4497.
